Some of our neighbors will soon be applying to renew the already-existing City of Houston special Minimum Building Line (MBL) ordinances, which currently apply to some of the blocks in Cherryhurst.
An MBL ordinance preserves the prevailing front building line (the front “setback”) of the homes on a block. The MBL ordinances are not new to Cherryhurst – several blocks in Cherryhurst have MBL ordinances that have been in effect for more than 18 years, but they will expire soon. For more information about MBL ordinances in general and the renewal process in particular, go to this link. As part of the MBL renewal application process, two signs will need to be posted on each block where a renewal application is pending with the City. These signs are a normal requirement of the MBL renewal process. Again, these expiring MBL ordinances have been in effect for more than 18 years. Nothing about them is new for Cherryhurst. We just wanted to inform the neighborhood about the renewal process and what to expect. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about this process. Thank you, Emily Covey Trevor Jefferies President, Cherryhurst Civic Association Chair, Deed Restriction Committee

![]() The Cherryhurst Civic Association with help from the Friends of Cherryhurst Park (FCP), a 501c(3), is pleased to be a recipient of the Neighborhood Matching Grant Program by District C/Ellen Cohen. To fund the community-designed sign toppers on each of our 24 street signs, the City has promised to match 50% percent of our cost. Our deadline for project completion (including installation) is June 28, 2019. Let’s make this happen!!! Mark your calendars! We will kick off our fundraising effort on Monday, March 25 at Shake Shack, our new neighbor located at 1002 Westheimer. Shake Shack will generously return 25% of proceeds all day long to FCP if you mention “Friends of Cherryhurst Park” at the register or present the flyer below. Invite friends, go for lunch, take a shake break in the afternoon, and then join your Cherryhurst neighbors for dinner and conversation from 6-8 PM! Buy a bag! We will be selling reusable cotton grocery bags with the Cherryhurst sign topper pictured on them. For $25, you can help reduce waste while supporting your neighborhood! We will have the bags during lunch and dinner at Shake Shack on March 25th for purchase. Can't make the event but want a bag? Please email info@cherryhurstcivic.org. Sponsor a Topper! For $75, you can fund one of 24 sign toppers. Donate to the fund by mailing a check to Friends of Cherryhurst Park (P.O. Box 130953, Houston, TX, 77219-0953) or by paying online. Any amount will help us reach our goal, but $75 will make you an official “Topper Sponsor.” Many thanks in advance for your support of this exciting beautification project for Cherryhurst! Any excess funds raised will benefit the mission of the FCP. |
