We are excited to be getting so close to the finish line on this community beautification project for Cherryhurst. Soon you will see installers working on the tops of each street sign in Cherryhurst, as mapped above.
If you have not yet had a chance to contribute to this effort, we still have some grocery bags to sell! Just let a CCA or Friends of Cherryhurst Park board member know, and we will arrange to get you one. They are $25 with all proceeds benefitting FCP. Donations should be made payable to Friends of Cherryhurst Park (P.O. Box 130953, Houston, TX, 77219-0953) or by paying online here.
Stay tuned for a community celebration once the signs are installed and the grant has funded!
Many thanks to everyone for coming out to Shake Shack last week for our Cherryhurst sign topper fundraiser. Our neighbors and friends consumed more than $1,100 worth of shakes, fries and burgers, worth a donation from Shake Shack of $275! We are so close to raising the needed funds for our Cherryhurst sign toppers. You can still help us reach our goal.
Buy a bag! We have 25 more bags. These reusable cotton grocery bags have the Cherryhurst sign topper pictured on them. They are good quality and provide ample space for groceries. For $25, you can help reduce plastic bag waste while also supporting your neighborhood!
Sponsor a Topper! We are grateful for all the "Sponsor Toppers" thus far. For $75, you, too, can become an official "Topper Sponsor."
Donations should be made payable to Friends of Cherryhurst Park (P.O. Box 130953, Houston, TX, 77219-0953) or by paying online here. A tax receipt will be provided via email.
Many thanks in advance for your support of this exciting beautification project for Cherryhurst! Any excess funds raised will benefit the mission of the Friends of Cherryhurst Park.
The Cherryhurst Civic Association with help from the Friends of Cherryhurst Park (FCP), a 501c(3), is pleased to be a recipient of the Neighborhood Matching Grant Program by District C/Ellen Cohen. To fund the community-designed sign toppers on each of our 24 street signs, the City has promised to match 50% percent of our cost. Our deadline for project completion (including installation) is June 28, 2019. Let’s make this happen!!!
Mark your calendars! We will kick off our fundraising effort on Monday, March 25 at Shake Shack, our new neighbor located at 1002 Westheimer. Shake Shack will generously return 25% of proceeds all day long to FCP if you mention “Friends of Cherryhurst Park” at the register or present the flyer below. Invite friends, go for lunch, take a shake break in the afternoon, and then join your Cherryhurst neighbors for dinner and conversation from 6-8 PM!
Buy a bag! We will be selling reusable cotton grocery bags with the Cherryhurst sign topper pictured on them. For $25, you can help reduce waste while supporting your neighborhood! We will have the bags during lunch and dinner at Shake Shack on March 25th for purchase. Can't make the event but want a bag? Please email email@example.com.
Sponsor a Topper! For $75, you can fund one of 24 sign toppers. Donate to the fund by mailing a check to Friends of Cherryhurst Park (P.O. Box 130953, Houston, TX, 77219-0953) or by paying online. Any amount will help us reach our goal, but $75 will make you an official “Topper Sponsor.”
Many thanks in advance for your support of this exciting beautification project for Cherryhurst! Any excess funds raised will benefit the mission of the FCP.
The votes are in, and green is the winner! Due to regulations from the City, the design had to be tweaked to fit their size requirements. We are very pleased with the new design, and hope you are, too! Feel free to comment here or contact a CCA board member if you have additional feedback. Our application was submitted to the Matching Grant program by the November 2nd deadline. If we win, we will likely still need to raise some money to fund the sign toppers. More on that to come, but for now, keep your fingers crossed!
Last week at the CCA Fall Membership Meeting, the membership voted to move forward designing Cherryhurst street sign toppers and applying for the City's matching grant money from the Department of Neighborhoods. Thank you, EJ Farhood, for submitting the proposed design! Below please find:
1) an image showing the scale of the proposed design,
2) a map of the proposed locations for the street sign toppers, and
3) a survey to select your favorite color of the proposed design.
Please feel free to contact a CCA board member or to submit a comment here should you have other feedback.
